Reawakening the blog

So as a writer with an increasing number of publications - such as Activation in Nature Futures last year, 'Tremors' in Digital Science Fiction over the summer, 'Harmonic' in the recently launched anthology Transtories and 'Nanoparticle Jive' in the forthcoming November issue of Orson Scott Card's Intergalactic Medicine Show, it's come to my attention that perhaps people might like a conduit of information about what I'm up to. Over the next few months I'll be creating a new website, but in the meantime I thought I'd reanimate the old blog and do some updating.

I've been a writer for as long as I can remember. I wrote a bunch of Lord of the Rings imitations when I was 10 or 12, and then started a bunch of Star Wars fanfiction when I was in my early teens. In 2002 I travelled as a fresh-faced 17 year old to Pittsburgh, PA, to attend the Alpha Workshop for young writers of speculative fiction, and went back the following year. Having my work critqued by writers like Bruce Holland Rogers, Tamora Pierce, Tobias Buckell, Harry Turtledove and Wen Spencer was a huge influence on the quality and ambition of my writing and I've been pursuing short fiction (and a couple of novels) ever since.
